About us
Steps that once felt easy can start to feel uncertain, especially when they are wet or icy. A well-made handrail gives you something solid to hold, so you can keep getting in and out of your home and garden with confidence.
Established in 2003, The Handrail People are a small, friendly, family-run company based in Worthing, West Sussex. We design and make high quality outdoor handrails for homes and commercial premises, and fit them ourselves across Sussex and the South East. Handrails don’t need to look clinical either: ours are made to suit your property.

For most orders we send you a drawing to approve before anything is made, so you know exactly what you are getting.
We make your handrail at our Worthing workshop and fit it for you, usually within 6-10 weeks of ordering. Supply only orders take around 4-6 weeks.

Yes. Our site visits are free of charge with no obligation. We aim to visit you within 1-2 weeks of your enquiry, depending on where you live.
We set our handrails between 90cm and 1 metre high, which complies with building regulations. They can also be designed to your specific requirements.
Our current lead time for supply and install is 6-10 weeks, and 4-6 weeks for supply only orders. Lead times vary with job size, location and how busy we are, so please ask when ordering.
Yes. All of our handrails, grab rails and balustrades are guaranteed for up to 20 years from purchase. T&Cs apply.
Generally not, but there are exceptions: a new purpose-built ramp for the use of a disabled person, and a path that has been widened for a wheelchair user. Call us on 01903 204867 to find out more.
Yes. Our supply only service delivers nationwide, and our handrails are designed to be easy for your local builder or handyman to install. If they have any questions, we are happy to talk to them.
